uvw unwrapping test
as i have never used the uvw unwrap process to texture an object before i decided to practice on a simple box shap i created in 3ds max, this shape forms part of my model train. after i unwrapped the uvw with the help of an online tutorial, i rendered it out and took it into photoshop. i then made this quick pattern. i saved it as a jpg and took it back into 3dsmax and applied it to my object. the process was surprisingly simple but as i have more advanced shapes to texture for my project i expect they will be more complicated to unwrap.
