 below you can see the train i have created in 3Ds Max. the next stage will be to build the track, then rig and texture the train.

motion graphics story boards

these 3 pictures are the story boards for my motion graphics. the idea is to have ablack back ground. then a toy train will pass from left to right at the botom of the screen. as the train passes smoke will come out of its chimney, and as the smoke slowly fades away the title will apear behind it. the font/style of the text will be magnetic letters that are often found on fridges.

These are my first draft storyboards after coming up with an initial idea. I expect that over the coming months I will develop and change certain aspects of these drawings, for example some of the camera angles, but will hopefully stick to the general idea.

these two boards show the opening shot as the camera moves to the right, until eventually the train track comes into view.

2.

 these two boards show the camera then come to a stop when the train is in the centre of the shot. and then as the train begins to move the camera follows it.

3.

and finaly these two boards show the camera following the train as it completes a full circuit, slowly zooming out to incorperate more of the background.

opening shot idea

this is what i am intending to achieve for my opening shot. the idea being its a kids room with toys on the floor, the camera pans right and you see the toys scattered, and then come across the toy train set i will be making. the idea will be for the watcher to not realise that the train set is actually cgi. i created this shot in after effects and photoshop to help give me an idea of what it will look like and how long the shot should be.

i found this rendered image of a cgi train on the internet. this is the kind of finish im going for, and should be achiveable.
